Description:
Metallica fans are well acquainted with Kirk Hammett's 1979 Flying V. It was his first Gibson and marked the beginning of a decades-long love affair. The purchase was driven by the need for a heavier sound, and this instrument has accompanied him throughout his career, being used in the making of the albums Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All, and The Black Album.
Epiphone has chosen to honor this artist and his instrument by creating a limited edition version in collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop. The instrument features its classic mahogany body, paired with a mahogany neck with "volutes," Grover® Rotomatic® tuners, and a "custom" bridge.
The pickups are a pair of Gibson USA Calibrated T-Type, inspired by the humbuckers produced in the 1970s, while the electronics are completed with CTS® potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors.
