Description:
For the first time in who knows how many years, Epiphone is once again producing the Texan model in the United States. The Epiphone Texan was first introduced in 1958 and quickly became an icon in music, especially in the hands of Paul McCartney. The original examples made in the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI, are still highly sought after and valued by collectors around the world.
It is truly fantastic that Gibson has brought the Texan model back into production in the United States. Part of the Original Collection, the Epiphone USA Texan reflects all the details of the original model produced in 1958.
The Dreadnought Round Shoulder body, with mahogany back and sides and a spruce top, closely resembles Gibson's J-45 model, but it has a few slight differences: one of which is the longer scale length, a feature that gives it a stronger attack.
Like the models in the Gibson Acoustic catalog, the Epiphone USA Texan boasts a thin nitrocellulose finish and a neck-to-body joint made with animal glues, an adhesive that allows vibrations to transmit through the instrument more efficiently compared to modern glues, as it crystallizes.
The Epiphone Texan is available in a Vintage Sunburst or Antique Natural finish and comes with a Gibson Acoustic Hardshell Case.
