Just one year after the launch of the Broadcaster®, Fender received a request from Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co. to cease using that registered name. Consequently, it was necessary to find a new name, which was chosen to be Telecaster.
History would have it that this 1951 model became known as the Telecaster.
The Fender American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster faithfully reproduces this legendary model in its authentic original form.
At the heart of this instrument is a pair of Fender Custom Shop Texas Special™ Single-Coil Tele® pickups, which are warmer and "thicker" compared to the Pure Vintage '51 Single-Coil Tele.
Additionally, for this Limited Edition, the body is crafted from stunning ash, while the neck is made of 3A flamed maple featuring a rather substantial yet comfortable 1951 "U" profile, paired with a more modern 9.5" radius fingerboard and Medium Jumbo frets.
The American Vintage II Series showcases a selection of the most iconic instruments in Fender's history, reproduced with exceptional accuracy in terms of technical specifications, aesthetics, and sound. Compared to the American Original Series, this new and updated series offers instruments that are even more historically precise, representing the closest resemblance to Fender Custom Shop production ever presented in the Fender USA catalog.
