Inspired by Fender’s last year of pre-CBS production, the Fender Custom Shop ’64 is packed to the brim with golden-age Fender style. It all starts off with a vintage-proper 2-piece select alder body that’s loaded with two Custom Shop hand-wound Texas Special pickups for a higher-output reimagining of time-tested Tele chime.
On the opposite end, a quarter-sawn maple neck merges the best of vintage and modern specs, including a substantial ’60s oval “C” shape, a gorgeous round-lam rosewood fingerboard, 21 narrow-tall frets, and a modern 9.5-inch radius. Lastly, old-school Telecaster fanatics will be sure to approve of this guitar’s period-correct ’64–’66 threaded steel-saddle bridge and iconic slotted Fender tuning machines. A classic Fender Custom Shop nitrocellulose Relic finish rounds it all out, saving you more than a half-century’s worth of break-in time!
