A lightweight Ash body is finished in a vibrant Aged Natural Super Heavy Relic nitro lacquer, period correct, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other finishes. The heavy, dirty checking on this guitar is super authentic, a real work of art!
The rift sawn Maple neck has a smooth, contemporary feel. With 9.50" radius and Narrow Tall / 6105 frets, this '51 Telecaster features a comfortable Mid 60's Oval "C" neck profile: it feels comfortable and fast, just like a contemporary Fender should.
With the Telecaster design considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '51 Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. Loaded with a hand wound Fender Crushed Blackguard at the bridge, you certainly get that famous Tele' tone. This beauty has a Fender Wide Range CuNiFe at the neck, super versatile it delivers warm tones, the perfect complement to this guitar!
The original '51 Telecaster's are the stuff of legend, a real collector's piece. The Fender Custom Shop 1951 Telecaster, well that's a player's guitar!
