The 490R pickups are equipped with Alnico 2 magnets, just like the original PAFs, and they have a tonal quality very similar to those, except for a greater emphasis on the mid frequencies, making them more punchy and modern.
Unlike the original PAFs, the 490R has been designed with a modern approach, aimed at eliminating any unwanted feedback.
The 490R is recommended for use at the neck position.
