Description:
The Gibson 80's Flying V incorporates specifications adopted by Gibson during the 1980s, a period when the model was introduced with features geared towards more powerful tones suitable for the hard rock and metal contexts of the time. Evolving from a design concept that originated in the late 1950s, the Flying V retains its distinctive shape while integrating an updated configuration for enhanced power and clarity.
The body is constructed from mahogany and maintains the classic "V" shape, which allows for easy access to the higher positions of the fretboard. The neck, also made of mahogany and glued to the body, features a SlimTaper profile designed to provide smoothness and comfort throughout its entire length.
The fingerboard, made of rosewood, is equipped with 22 frets and a 12" radius, ensuring a balanced setup and consistent response for both rhythm and lead playing.
The electronics consist of a pair of Gibson 80's Tribute pickups, engineered for a higher output and a more aggressive response compared to previous versions. The result is a compact and defined sound, with pronounced mids and effective performance even at elevated distortion levels.
Completing the specifications are a fixed bridge with stopbar, sealed tuners, and chrome hardware, elements that ensure tuning stability and overall reliability of the instrument.
