The Gibson Custom Lucille Legacy Figured Murphy Lab Heavy Aged in Dark Walnut finish is an extraordinary tribute to the "King of the Blues" and a showcase of the craftsmanship of the Gibson Custom Shop. Part of the Limited Edition Collection—a series of limited-run guitars inspired by years of "Made to Measure" requests and the creativity of Nashville luthiers—this instrument blends timeless design with meticulous artistry.

Essentially, this Lucille Legacy is built on the ES-335 platform, but with the distinctive details that have made B.B. King’s guitar legendary. The semi-hollow construction features a solid maple center block for exceptional sustain and feedback resistance, while the absence of f-holes provides an elegant and sophisticated silhouette.

The body is crafted from laminated figured maple/poplar/figured maple. Finished in Dark Walnut and aged by the Murphy Lab with a Heavy Aged patina, it exudes the character and soul of an instrument loved and played for years.

Elegant details abound: the multi-ply binding frames the body and headstock, while the ebony fingerboard is adorned with Split Block inlays made of mother-of-pearl. The SlimTaper™ mahogany neck profile offers a fast and comfortable feel and is joined to the body with a long tenon using animal glue for maximum resonance. Medium Jumbo frets, a 12-inch fingerboard radius, and a Corian® nut complete a smooth and precise playing surface.

The electronics are pure vintage magic. A pair of unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups delivers warm, articulate tones with a dynamic response that is touch-sensitive. The hand-wired controls include vintage taper CTS® potentiometers and Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors, along with a mono Varitone switch for additional tonal versatility.

The hardware is in Nickel finish for a classic look, complemented by a TP-6 tailpiece and an ABR-1 bridge for precise intonation. Black Top Hat knobs with silver inserts, a tortoise-style pickguard, and Grover® Tulip tuners add aesthetic refinement.
