Gibson Custom Historic 1936 Advanced Jumbo Murphy Lab Heavy Aged

At a time when optimism was not at an all-time high, Gibson pulled a new series of guitars out of the hat, called "Advanced." Included in this product line was a model that became famous: the Advanced Jumbo.

Production numbers between 1936 and 1939 were decidedly low, despite it being an exceptional instrument, making it one of the most sought-after collector's pieces today.

The Gibson Acoustic Custom Shop now offers the most accurate replica ever made of the original 1936 Advanced Jumbo. This instrument is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, employing the most advanced construction techniques.

Specifically, we want to highlight the presence of a "Thermally Aged" Adirondack spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, a long scale length of 25.5", and a slightly narrower nut compared to the 1934 Jumbo predecessor.

In particular, this version features a Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment. The Murphy Lab perfectly recreates, using natural processes rather than manual methods, the same aging conditions of the finish found on original vintage instruments. It truly feels like holding a vintage original instrument, but with all the quality and performance that only the Gibson Custom Shop can offer today.
