Description:
The Southern Jumbo model is one of the most recognized and admired in the history of Gibson acoustic guitars. Artists like Woody Guthrie made it their primary instrument, which is why original examples command incredible prices in the Vintage market.
The legend of the Southern Jumbo lives on today thanks to the luthiers at Gibson Acoustic's Custom Shop, in the Gibson Custom Historic 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo.
This instrument represents the most accurate replica ever made of the original 1942 Southern Jumbo. It has been crafted with meticulous attention to detail, employing the most advanced construction techniques.
Specifically, we want to highlight the presence of a "Thermally Aged" Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, a short scale length of 24.75", and a wider nut at 1.77", compared to its sibling, the J-45.
This instrument produces a defined, dry sound that is extremely precise and articulate during fast passages.
A guitar for connoisseurs.
