The Gibson Custom 1955 J-45 Reissue Light Aged in Vintage Sunburst is a faithful reissue of the legendary acoustic "workhorse" that has shaped the history of folk, blues, and rock music.
Crafted by the Gibson Custom Shop with artisanal care and vintage details, this guitar combines the authentic charm of the 1950s with modern playability, offering the warmth, depth, and character that have made the J-45 a timeless icon.
Specifically, we want to highlight the presence of a "Thermally Aged" Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, a short scale of 24.75", and a nut width of 1.725".
It is an instrument with a defined, dry sound that is extremely precise and articulate during fast passages.
Particularly, this version features a Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment. The Murphy Lab perfectly recreates, using natural processes rather than manual methods, the same aging conditions of the finish found on original vintage instruments. It boasts ultra-thin finishes, characterized by a noticeable and consistent "crackle," providing an absolutely authentic feel. It truly feels like holding a vintage original instrument, yet with all the quality and performance that only the Gibson Custom Shop can offer today.
