The new Gibson management has indeed decided to bring Tom Murphy back directly into the Gibson Custom Shop to create a new generation of aging techniques that are even more accurate and realistic than before: a decisive break from previous production methods and a sensational leap forward in terms of quality results.

The Murphy Lab perfectly recreates, using natural processes rather than manual ones, the same aging conditions of the finish found on original vintage instruments. The extremely thin finishes are characterized by a noticeable and consistent "crackle," providing an absolutely authentic feel.
