Description:
Launched in 1977, the Gibson RD has become a true cult guitar over the years. Famous for its distinctive design, which echoes the bold lines of the Explorer and Firebird, it has established itself for its versatility and has been chosen by numerous prominent guitarists from various musical backgrounds.
Today, the RD Custom makes its debut in the prestigious Gibson Custom line: it is the first RD ever created by the Custom Shop and also the first solidbody with a 25.5" scale to enter the Gibson Custom catalog.
The mahogany body is paired with a mahogany neck featuring a Medium "C" profile, designed to provide a comfortable feel. The 25.5" scale contributes to increased string tension, a characteristic that makes the RD Custom particularly suitable for "dropped" tunings.
The fingerboard, made of Indian rosewood, is equipped with 22 Medium Jumbo frets and a 12" radius, a combination that renders it comfortable and versatile, perfect for both classic accompaniments and more elaborate solos.
The electronics comprise a pair of Gibson 490R humbuckers at the neck and a Gibson 498T at the bridge, two pickups already well-known in the Gibson Custom range for their strong output and modern sound, rich in presence and definition.
Completing the setup are a Tune-o-matic bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners, ensuring tuning stability and precision even during the most intense sessions.
