Description:
The Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut is directly derived from the historic Les Paul Special of 1955, which itself was an evolution of the Les Paul Junior from 1954. This essential yet high-quality solid body was originally designed as a student model but was quickly adopted by professionals. By adding a second pickup, dedicated controls, a selector switch, binding on the fingerboard, and a mother-of-pearl logo on the headstock, the Special expanded the sonic capabilities of the Junior while retaining its direct character and classic wraparound bridge.
In 1958, the double cutaway version debuted, providing improved access to the higher frets, which was later refined in 1960 with the SlimTaper™ neck profile and a new neck pickup placement for greater structural stability. These developments have made the Les Paul Special one of the most iconic and versatile guitars in Gibson's history, representing an ideal synthesis of simplicity, power, and playability.
The body is constructed from mahogany, paired with a mahogany neck featuring a 60s SlimTaper™ profile.
The rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 22 Medium Jumbo frets and a 12" radius, offering a natural feel during play, making it ideal for extended sessions.
The electronics consist of a set of Gibson Custom USA P-90 Soapbar pickups, connected to CTS® potentiometers and Bumblebee capacitors, delivering a rich and dynamic sound capable of ranging from clean and crisp tones to gritty distortions.
The Wraparound bridge and Gibson Deluxe tuners complete the specifications, ensuring stable and precise tuning.
