Description:
Introduced in 1942 during the renowned “Banner” era, the Gibson LG-2 quickly established itself as one of the most appreciated models among small-bodied acoustic guitars, thanks to its remarkable sound projection and tonal balance. The original configuration featured a mahogany back and sides paired with a spruce top. However, limitations in material supplies due to wartime circumstances led Gibson to employ various construction alternatives, including the use of maple for the back and sides and, in some cases, entirely mahogany tops.
The Gibson LG-2 All Mahogany Faded is a faithful reinterpretation of the original vintage models made entirely of mahogany, carefully rethought to capture the soul, aesthetics, and tonal character of the early LG-2s. Every technical solution has been designed to pay homage to those rare vintage specimens, known for their warm, round, and enveloping sound. The result is an instrument that stands out not only for its vintage appearance but also for a tone deeply cherished and sought after by acoustic guitarists worldwide, particularly among enthusiasts of folk, blues, and fingerstyle.
The solid mahogany top, featuring a traditional scalloped "X" bracing, is matched with solid mahogany back and sides, while the neck has a comfortable "Round" profile.
The rosewood fingerboard, with 20 frets and a traditional 12" radius, offers fluid and natural playability, making it extremely comfortable for any playing style.
Finally, thanks to the L.R. Baggs Element VTC electronics, the LG-2 All Mahogany Faded is perfectly ready for stage and studio use. The system includes an under-saddle transducer and a preamp with volume and tone controls mounted inside the soundhole, easily accessible yet visually discreet. This configuration allows for a natural and dynamic amplified sound, preserving the warm and organic character of the instrument even in amplified contexts, without compromising its vintage aesthetics.
