Originally introduced in 1942 during the renowned Banner Era of Gibson, the LG-2 was conceived as the successor to the L-00, quickly earning a distinguished place among the brand’s most esteemed small-body acoustic guitars. Launched alongside iconic models such as the J-45™ and the Southern Jumbo, the LG-2 became the ideal choice for guitarists seeking a broad, balanced, and defined sound in a more compact format, serving as an effective alternative to larger-bodied guitars.

With the LG-2 50s Original, Gibson revives this classic, offering a faithful homage to the highly sought-after versions of the 1950s. The result of years of requests from enthusiasts, this model combines a vintage-inspired aesthetic with top-tier construction.

The top is crafted from solid Sitka spruce, supported by traditional scalloped X-bracing, and is complemented by solid mahogany back and sides, a combination that ensures a rich, warm, and well-balanced tone. The body is finished with three-ply top binding and single-ply back binding, while the mahogany neck features a comfortable Rounded profile.

The unbound rosewood fingerboard, equipped with 20 frets and understated dot inlays in mother-of-pearl, contributes to an elegant and understated aesthetic.

To meet the needs of modern musicians, the LG-2 50s Original is equipped with an L.R. Baggs™ VTC amplification system, with volume and tone controls discreetly integrated into the soundhole.
