Introduced for the first time in the early 1950s, Gibson's legendary P-90 single coil pickup set a new standard for a powerful and raw sound, huge in defining Blues and Rock 'n' Roll during their formative years.
Today, the traditional combination of high output and bright tone of the P-90 is still considered one of the favorites. Familiarly known as the "Soapbar," the P-90 remains the quintessential pickup that "cuts through the mix," adapting to any musical genre from blues and rock to softer jazz riffs.
It is also an ideal pickup for replacing vintage pickups, featuring a two-conductor wiring with an outer shield and is fully waxed to eliminate any possibility of unwanted microphonic feedback.
This particular "Underwound" version has a lower output due to fewer windings.
