Description:
Introduced in the late 1990s, the Songwriter represents one of Gibson's modern interpretations of the dreadnought design. Characterized by its typical square shoulder design, this model incorporates some of the brand's historical construction solutions, such as the scalloped X-bracing from the 1930s and the 25.5" scale length, elements that also evoke the tradition of the renowned Advanced Jumbo from 1936.
With the Songwriter Recording Artist, Gibson offers an instrument designed to provide exceptional tonal balance, dynamics, and clarity—qualities that are particularly valued both in the studio and during live performances. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, this guitar combines high-quality materials and traditional construction techniques for an authentically Gibson result.
The top is made of solid thermally-aged Sitka spruce and is paired with rosewood back and sides, a combination that ensures depth and a strong presence in the lower frequencies. The mahogany neck with a 25.5" scale features a comfortable Round profile.
The fingerboard, made of ebony, is equipped with 20 standard frets and is adorned with elegant Diamond Eye inlays in mother-of-pearl. The ebony bridge with a bone saddle and TUSQ pins completes a construction designed to ensure precision, reliability, and an exceptionally musical response.
The electronics consist of the L.R. Baggs HiFi amplification system, featuring two sensors positioned on the bridge plate and an internal preamp designed to offer great dynamics, excellent string balance, and a natural representation of the acoustic sound when amplified. The volume and tone controls are discreetly integrated into the soundhole, easily accessible for the musician but nearly invisible to the audience.
From recording sessions to live performances, the Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist proves to be an extremely versatile instrument, capable of combining traditional craftsmanship, exceptional musicality, and professional reliability, all in true Gibson style.
