Description:
First introduced in the Guild catalog in 1968 as a flagship special model, the D-55 quickly became a standard and was included in regular production as early as 1974.
An iconic instrument, it has been used by artists such as Tommy Smothers in the 1960s, and today is favored by stars like David Nail and Billie Joe Armstrong.
The current D-55 pays tribute to the finest D-55s ever made: it features a completely solid wood construction with a nitrocellulose finish. Specifically, it boasts a hand-selected Sitka spruce top, Adirondack spruce bracing, and Indian rosewood back and sides.
The neck, crafted from mahogany, offers a comfortable profile, while the ebony fingerboard is adorned with classic "V-Block" inlays.
This incredibly resonant instrument delivers great volume and is equipped with LR Baggs Anthem electronics, which include a piezo sensor and microphone inside the soundhole. It also comes with a case featuring a built-in humidifier and a certificate of authenticity.
