Description:
The Martin 00L Oliver is a limited-edition model born from a unique collaboration between Martin Guitar and renowned artist Julie Heffernan.
The guitar features Heffernan's captivating oil painting, "Self-Portrait as Arms and the Men," beautifully reproduced on the top made of certified FSC® solid spruce. This guitar is not just a musical instrument; it is a work of art that merges the worlds of art and music.
Heffernan's painting transforms the 00L Oliver into a canvas that tells a story every time it is played.
“I was very impressed by the image,” recalls Martin's President and CEO Thomas Ripsam. “I thought it would be wonderful to combine her art with our craft of creating musical instruments.”
Heffernan adds, “My work is focused on the intricate complexity of nature that fuels a creative mind... I realized almost immediately which piece would work for the top of this guitar.”
Her surreal landscape exposes the conflict between nature and humanity's impact on the planet, and the result is something that can be both displayed and played, merging visual beauty with the classic tone and feel of a Martin. The name of the guitar, which is named after Heffernan's son Oliver, a singer-songwriter who is part of the band Bellows, holds special significance.
Beyond its striking graphics, the 00L Oliver is crafted from top-quality materials and finishes. With a Grand Concert (00) body, medium flame satin-finished solid Koa back and sides, and a Sitka spruce top, the tone is round, defined, harmonious, and balanced.
The 00L Oliver comes with an eco-friendly hemp softshell case that protects this limited-edition work of art.
Inside the guitar, a hand-signed and numbered embossed paper label by Heffernan and Ripsam adds a personal touch, while the faux tortoiseshell binding, Open Gear tuners, aluminum side dots, abalone fingerboard inlay, and ebony bridge and fingerboard add elegance to the instrument.
With only 104 pieces available, the Martin 00L Oliver is a harmonious blend of art and music, inspired by Heffernan's visionary artworks and Martin's legacy of excellence.
Whether you are a collector, musician, painter, or lover of fine arts, this guitar promises to inspire creativity and unleash the artist within you.
“Whether through guitar or art, the important thing is to bring forth your creativity and expression and who you are in that process,” states Ripsam. “This unique guitar will be a fantastic tool for creating interesting music and many special moments.”
