Soldano X88-IR Preamp

The Soldano X88R is regarded by many guitarists as the "Holy Grail" of rack preamps. With its typically Soldano tone, the X88R has been chosen for decades by world-renowned guitarists such as Peter Frampton, Michael Landau, and Steve Lukather as a foundational component of their sound.

The new X88-IR continues this tradition, preserving the legendary sound of the original X88R while integrating modern features designed to meet the needs of today's professional guitarists.

Just like the original X88R, the new X88-IR boasts three channels, each with Preamp Level, 3-band EQ, Output Level, and Bright Switch, but now includes new functionalities: the Clean channel features a switch to toggle between Normal and Altered modes, where Normal provides Fender-inspired tones, while the Altered mode delivers a more "crunch" sound. Channels 2 and 3 are identical, and both are equipped with a Fat Switch, Crunch/Overdrive Switch, and Bright Switch.

Each of the three channels can be controlled via MIDI: the X88-IR is indeed MIDI compatible, allowing for the storage of up to 128 presets, which can also be organized using the Soldano Editor Software.

Another essential tool for the modern guitarist is cabinet IR simulations. The X88-IR offers six onboard IR slots, each of which can be independently assigned to any channel/mode. The selection of IRs can be expanded via the Soldano Editor software, and IRs can always be bypassed.
