The Taylor 214ce-BLK Plus features a laminate Big Leaf Maple back and sides, a material that, when paired with a solid "Torrefied" Sitka spruce top—treated to possess the tonal characteristics of a top that has been played for years—can generate a warm tone rich in mid and high frequencies, while maintaining clarity and resonance.

Unlike the standard version, this Plus variant of the 214ce model is distinguished by a fully glossy finish, black binding, 4 mm Dot inlays, and a Taylor Aerocase™.

Other technical specifications to note include the ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge, and Taylor ES2 electronics.

The Taylor Expression System 2 represents the latest evolutionary step in Taylor electronics. The sensor is not positioned beneath the bridge like traditional piezos, but rather behind it. This placement reduces the load on the sensor, allowing for unprecedented sound dynamics. Additionally, this positioning has made it possible to include an easy-to-use Allen key adjustment for balancing treble and bass.
